Tigo Energy (TYGO) Q3 2026 earnings review

Tigo Energy cuts its sales outlook again as demand drops

Tigo Energy, a maker of solar panel electronics, hit the bottom of its third-quarter sales target while cutting its year-end plan again. Revenue fell 21% from a year ago as lower solar subsidies weighed on Europe and the US, while battery storage sales dropped 59%. Chief executive Zvi Alon pointed to positive net income and beat the cash profit target, helped by a one-off tariff refund and lower overhead.

⚖️ Verdict: 🔴 Bearish

The story got worse because the fourth-quarter sales recovery management counted on has evaporated. Tigo cut its full-year revenue outlook for a second straight quarter, planning for fourth-quarter sales to fall 30% from a year ago by our math as its US inverter partner delays its launch again. On the bright side, converting unsold inventory into cash let Tigo pay down debt and keep its cash balance steady.

The question now is whether Tigo can shrink its cost base enough to make money on lower solar volumes, or if it needs the delayed US partner launch to cover its overhead. Either growing markets like Australia and Czechia lift quarterly sales back above $26 million, or fourth-quarter losses will drain the cash freed from inventory. Management's first 2027 outlook next quarter will show which path is realistic.

🐂 Bull Case

🟢 strengthening CASH

Inventory Drawdowns and Cost Cuts Lifted Cash

Tigo Energy, a maker of electronics that boost solar panel output, has spent all year turning unsold stock back into cash and trimming overhead. Finance chief Bill Roeschlein said operating expenses fell 10.0% from a year ago to $11.2 million, while inventory dropped by $13.2 million since the end of 2025 to $18.1 million.

By our math, subtracting first-half cash flows from the nine-month figures shows Tigo generated $2.0 million of operating cash flow in the third quarter, after burning $10.3 million in the first half. That allowed management to pay down $1.6 million of its credit line, leaving $16.8 million in cash against $2.5 million of debt.

What to watch: fourth-quarter cash and credit line balances. Because the company plans for an operating loss next quarter, cash will shrink unless inventory drops further.

🟢 strengthening GROWTH

Australia and Eastern Europe Grow Fast

While Tigo's largest solar markets shrank, newer regions grew rapidly and core hardware pricing held firm. Chief executive Zvi Alon said sales in the Asia-Pacific region rose 56.3% from a year ago to reach 7.0% of total revenue, led by 121.1% growth in Australia. In Europe, sales in Poland and Spain rose 41.2% and 103.2%, and Czechia became Tigo's largest country at 19.6% of sales.

Alon plans "to invest in growing markets where we are already succeeding, such as Eastern Europe and Australia, to expand our market share" in 2027. Meanwhile, proposed US and European rules against foreign-made solar inverters brought no new revenue this quarter. What to watch: Asia-Pacific's share of total revenue in the fourth quarter. A higher share would show Australia is big enough to cushion the European winter slowdown.

🐻 Bear Case

🔴🔴 strengthening GROWTH contradicts narrative

Partner Delays Cut the Fourth-Quarter Plan

Last quarter, Tigo cut its full-year revenue outlook to $100–110 million, banking on a fourth-quarter sales jump from a US partner that makes tax-credit-eligible solar inverters. By our math, that prior full-year plan pointed to $23.4–35.4 million of fourth-quarter revenue. Instead, Tigo now forecasts $20–22 million for the fourth quarter and cut its full-year plan to $95–97 million.

Tigo booked $0.8 million of sales to this partner in the third quarter and expects slightly more in the fourth. However, Alon warned that "the partner’s delayed go-to-market launch may affect the timing of future orders". That cuts against management's earlier claim that shifting the launch to the fourth quarter would spark a year-end volume ramp.

What to watch: fourth-quarter revenue from the US inverter partner and the 2027 revenue outlook. Another delay in reorders would leave US sales depressed into next year.

Battery Storage Sales Dropped 59% From Last Year

GO ESS, Tigo's line of residential batteries and inverters, is meant to be its second growth engine alongside panel optimizers. Instead, Alon said third-quarter GO ESS sales fell 58.6% from a year ago and 40.6% from last quarter to $1.3 million, or 5.4% of revenue, on weak demand in the US and Italy.

Because GO ESS carries low profit margins, its smaller share of sales helped lift Tigo's overall gross margin to 46.2% (or 42.8% by our math excluding a $0.8 million tariff refund). That margin boost comes at the cost of product growth, as the battery line has now stalled for a second straight year. What to watch: GO ESS quarterly revenue in the fourth quarter. A reading near $1 million would confirm the new European battery has failed to gain traction.

🔴🔴 persistent MARGIN

Shrinking Sales Keep Operating Profit Out of Reach

Alon highlighted that Tigo "delivered GAAP net income of $0.4 million" and beat its adjusted EBITDA target at $1.5 million (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and stock pay). However, those profits relied on one-off items rather than core operations.

  • Tariff refund: $0.8 million from prior periods boosted gross profit and adjusted EBITDA
  • Tax benefit: $0.3 million of income tax benefit lifted net income above break-even
  • Operating expenses: $11.2 million, up 5.9 percentage points as a share of revenue from a year ago by our math
  • General and administrative costs: rose 3.4 percentage points of revenue to 21.0%

Even with the tariff refund, Tigo posted an operating loss of $77 thousand because revenue fell faster than overhead. For the fourth quarter, management plans for an adjusted EBITDA loss of $1.5–3.0 million on $20–22 million of sales. What to watch: quarterly revenue needed to cover the $11.2 million expense base in 2027. Without sales above $26 million a quarter, operating losses will persist.

🔴 strengthening MACRO

Subsidy Cuts Hit Demand in Europe and America

Tigo gets 76.5% of its revenue from Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and 16.5% from the Americas. Both regions shrank as governments scaled back solar incentives. European sales fell 14.8% from a year ago "as the market continues to adjust to a reduced subsidy environment", Alon said, with steep drops in Italy and the UK.

Meanwhile, US revenue fell 51.4% "as the U.S. market adjusts to the expiration of the IRS Section 25D tax credit at the end of 2025", according to Alon. Financial strain among European buyers also cost Tigo another $0.4 million in bad debt charges, including "a charge related to a single European customer". What to watch: bad debt charges and European revenue in the fourth quarter. Further customer defaults would eat into the cash Tigo freed from inventory.

The diluted share count rose 18.8% from 65.7 million a year ago, though it dipped slightly from 80.6 million in the second quarter. The year-on-year jump reflects stock sales used to rebuild cash after Tigo paid off its $50 million convertible debt at the end of 2025.

🔮 Guidance

Q4 2026 Revenue $20.0–22.0 million
🠇 cut from $23.4–35.4 million (implied by prior FY26 outlook)
⇘ decelerating

Cut. The fourth-quarter plan calls for $21.0 million at the middle of the range, down 12.6% from the third quarter and down 30.1% from a year ago by our math. That sits well below the $23.4–35.4 million that the prior full-year outlook pointed to. Roeschlein said the plan reflects a continuation of third-quarter headwinds in Europe, storage and the delayed US partner launch.

Q4 2026 Adjusted EBITDA -$3.0 million to -$1.5 million
⇄ reversing

New. Management forecasts an adjusted EBITDA loss of $2.25 million at the middle of the range, reversing from the $1.5 million profit in the third quarter (and down from a $2.7 million profit in the fourth quarter of 2025). Lower seasonal sales volume and the absence of the $0.8 million prior-period tariff refund drive the swing back into losses.

FY 2026 Revenue $95.0–97.0 million
🠇 cut from $100.0–110.0 million
⇘ decelerating

Cut. The middle of the full-year range drops by $9.0 million to $96.0 million, or a 7.3% decline from 2025 revenue of $103.5 million by our math. Across four quarters, the 2026 midpoint has moved from $132.5 million to $132.5 million, then $105.0 million, and now $96.0 million. With $74.6 million booked in the first nine months, the new range matches the fourth-quarter outlook.
