GigaCloud Technology Inc (GCT) Q3 2026 earnings review
GigaCloud profit jumps 42%, but rising receivables drain cash flow
GigaCloud Technology, an online wholesale distributor of furniture and large home goods, delivered record profit as higher shipping margins and third-party marketplace volume powered results. Total revenue climbed 27% from a year ago to $424 million, or about 22% from businesses owned a year ago by our math, well above what the company's own plan pointed to. Chief executive Larry Wu pointed to expansion in Europe and new sales channels, while share buybacks helped lift diluted profit per share by 42%.
| Sales from businesses owned a year ago | +22% by our math; total revenue +27% to $424M |
|---|---|
| Service gross margin | 15.3% 9.1% a year ago and 11.7% last quarter, by our math |
| Diluted profit per share | $1.41 +42% from a year ago |
| Q4 revenue outlook | New $425M–$450M, +21% at the middle of the range |
⚖️ Verdict: 🟢 Bullish
The story got better because shipping margins expanded for a third straight quarter and marketplace order growth sped up. By our math, service gross margin reached 15%, and 12-month sales volume from independent merchants rose 31%. One caution: beating its own third-quarter sales target says the forecast was cautious, while a 44% jump in customer receivables and higher inventory prepayments kept nine-month operating cash flow 34% below last year.
The question now is whether the fourth-quarter outlook for 21% revenue growth reflects a real slowdown in Europe and US furniture demand or another cautious forecast. Either new tariffs and tougher European comparisons are finally cooling growth, or management is repeating the conservative pattern that produced seven straight beats above its range. The third-quarter filing's regional breakdown and fourth-quarter sales will tell.
🐂 Bull Case
Service Gross Margin Topped 15%
GigaCloud sells warehouse storage and ocean shipping to merchants on its platform, recording those fees as service revenue. Because the company locks in ocean shipping rates on long-term contracts, rising market shipping rates widen its profit spread, though a sudden drop in shipping prices remains a standing risk that previously squeezed this margin to 6.0% late last year.
By our math, service gross margin reached 15.3% this quarter, up from 9.1% a year ago and 11.7% last quarter. Service revenue rose 25.5% to $136.0 million while the cost of providing those services grew 17.1% to $115.3 million. That 6.1 percentage point service expansion lifted total gross margin by 1.7 percentage points to 24.9%, even as product gross margin dipped 0.6 percentage points to 29.4%.
What to watch: fourth-quarter service gross margin in the annual report. A reading that drops back below 11% would show that spot ocean freight rates reversed or peak-season delivery surcharges returned.
Third-Party Marketplace Volume Grew 31%
GigaCloud Marketplace is the business-to-business platform where Asian manufacturers sell furniture and other large items to resellers. Gross merchandise value (GMV) is the total dollar value of orders placed through that platform over the past 12 months. In the third quarter, total marketplace GMV rose 24.0% from a year ago to $1.85 billion, accelerating from 21.3% growth in the second quarter.
Independent merchants — which GigaCloud calls 3P sellers — drove the pickup. Their 12-month sales volume climbed 30.6% to $1.03 billion and reached 55.9% of total marketplace volume. The wholesaler added 1,014 net new active buyers in three months by our math, bringing the total to 13,837, up 21.2% from a year ago. More independent seller volume brings commission and shipping fees without tying up cash in company-owned inventory.
What to watch: twelve-month marketplace GMV growth in the fourth quarter. Another step up above 24% would confirm that buyer additions are lifting platform volume.
Buybacks Cut Share Count by Nearly 5%
The board approved a new $120.0 million three-year share repurchase plan in August, replacing its earlier authorization. Finance chief Erica Wei said the company will keep buying shares opportunistically, "taking advantage of market volatility, and will consider a one-time special dividend if any authorization balances remain unused at the end of our three-year program in August 2029".
GigaCloud spent $17.7 million in the third quarter to buy back 491,831 shares, and spent another $5.0 million on 87,860 shares after the quarter closed. That reduced the diluted share count by 4.7% from a year ago to 35.8 million, turning a 36.1% rise in net income into a 42.4% jump in diluted profit per share to $1.41.
What to watch: fourth-quarter share repurchases and diluted share count. Continued buying at this pace would push the diluted share count below 35.5 million.
🐻 Bear Case
Receivables and Prepayments Drained Nine-Month Cash Flow
GigaCloud earned $131.1 million in net income over the first nine months of 2026, up 32.6% from a year ago. Yet operating cash flow over the same nine months fell 34.2% to $83.1 million, down from $126.3 million in the prior year. By our math, third-quarter operating cash flow rebounded to $56.4 million, but that still trailed the $78.0 million generated in last year's third quarter.
- Accounts receivable: $86.3 million, up 44.3% from a year ago against revenue up 27.3%
- Prepayments and other current assets: $43.1 million, more than double the $19.5 million at year-end
- Inventories: $219.0 million, up 24.2% from a year ago and absorbing $24.4 million of cash year-to-date
This matters because selling more goods through wholesale partners and third-party retail websites requires upfront inventory deposits and longer payment terms. Receivable growth outpacing sales growth by 17 percentage points also raises credit risk before the quarterly filing shows whether customer concentration or bad-debt provisions increased again.
What to watch: the credit-loss provision and customer concentration table in the third-quarter filing. A rising bad-debt charge would show that the 44.3% jump in receivables carries collection trouble.
Product Sales Still Outpace the Marketplace
GigaCloud describes its online business-to-business marketplace as the center of its operations, and direct product sales on and off that platform are also a standing growth driver. In the third quarter, total product revenue — sales of goods GigaCloud owns — rose 28.2% from a year ago to $287.5 million. Yet by our math, first-party merchandise volume on the GigaCloud Marketplace grew only 16.6% over the past 12 months to $814.0 million.
That gap shows off-platform selling through third-party retail websites is still carrying product growth, while the marketplace's exact share of nine-month revenue awaits the quarterly filing. Selling on outside websites costs more: selling and marketing expenses rose 36.3% to $34.7 million, climbing 0.5 percentage points to 8.2% of revenue, partly offset by general and administrative overhead falling 0.4 percentage points to 2.2%.
What to watch: marketplace revenue as a share of total nine-month revenue in the quarterly filing. A drop below last quarter's 55.2% would confirm that off-platform retail sales keep diluting the marketplace mix.
Risks This Quarter Did Not Answer
Chief executive Larry Wu noted "Periods of market uncertainty underscore the importance of a clear long-term vision and consistent execution" and cited "geographic expansion into markets such as Europe", where rapid growth faces tougher comparisons. However, the press release did not include the regional and acquisition breakdowns needed to test five standing concerns:
- European growth and third-party seller share: not in the release; conference call remarks and the filing's geographic table will show whether growth slowed below 50%.
- New Classic Home Furnishings integration: standalone sales and progress toward its $3.4 million earnout liability await the quarterly filing.
- Trade policy and US furniture demand: tariff refund timing, customs delays, and domestic demand trends await the filing's risk disclosures.
- Warehouse lease commitments: total operating lease liabilities stand at $474.7 million on the balance sheet, leaving fixed costs high if order volumes slow.

Non-GAAP Profit Per Share Is Actually EBITDA
In its highlights, the company reported diluted profit per share excluding one-offs of $1.73, up 49.1% from a year ago, alongside standard diluted profit per share of $1.41. The footnotes explain that "Adjusted EPS – diluted is a financial measure defined as our Adjusted EBITDA divided by our diluted weighted-average shares outstanding". Adding back $0.32 per share of income taxes and $0.08 of depreciation makes the figure incomparable to standard earnings.
💲 Other KPIs
Average 12-month spending per buyer rose 2.4% from $130,349 a year ago, but slipped 1.9% from $136,069 in the second quarter. Because GigaCloud brought in 1,014 net new buyers during the quarter, the influx of newer, smaller accounts diluted the average spend per customer.
Spending on software and platform development fell 9.7% from $2.53 million a year ago and dropped from $2.69 million in the second quarter. At 0.5% of total revenue, down from 0.8% a year ago, technology investment continues to shrink even as the B2B distributor scales its marketplace.
Cash, restricted cash, and short-term investments rose by $39.4 million from $378.6 million at the end of June, returning to just above the $416.9 million held at year-end 2025. Strong third-quarter operating cash flow of $56.4 million by our math covered $17.7 million in share buybacks and rebuilt the cash balance.
🔮 Guidance
New. The plan calls for fourth-quarter revenue to grow 20.6% from a year ago and 3.3% from the third quarter at the middle of the range ($437.5 million), down from 27.3% year-over-year growth in Q3. GigaCloud has beaten the top of its quarterly revenue range for seven straight quarters, by an average of 7.8% above the middle of the range over the past year. If the pattern holds, fourth-quarter revenue would reach about $471.7 million by our math.
❓ Key Questions
Did Europe's third-party marketplace share stay above 15%?
The press release gave no regional figures. Investors need the quarterly filing and call remarks to see whether European product revenue held near 50% growth against tougher comparisons and whether independent sellers kept gaining share.
Why did accounts receivable grow 44% against 27% sales growth?
Receivables reached $86.3 million and prepayments more than doubled since December. Management needs to explain whether longer payment terms for wholesale buyers or overdue accounts drove the build, and disclose the third-quarter bad-debt provision.
What share of nine-month revenue came from the GigaCloud Marketplace?
Marketplace revenue slipped to 55.2% of total sales in the first half as off-platform e-commerce sales grew faster. The third-quarter filing will show whether the core platform regained revenue share as marketplace GMV accelerated.
Is New Classic on track to hit its $50.7M revenue floor?
GigaCloud carries a $3.4 million contingent earnout liability for New Classic on its balance sheet. Management has not yet disclosed whether the acquired furniture distributor returned to year-over-year growth in the third quarter.
